JAYSON WILLIAMS TASERED BY POLICE
Now this is a case we haven’t heard about in quite a while. Former NBA star Jayson Williams was tasered by police in his posh hotel suite Monday after the reportedly suicidal ex-NBA star resisted their attempts to take him to a hospital.

Associated Press claims the police were called to the hotel in Manhattan when a female friend reported the former New Jersey Nets player was acting suicidal.

When the cops arrived, the 6-foot-10, 325-pound Williams appeared drunk and agitated, police said. There were empty bottles of prescription drugs strewn around his disheveled hotel suite and several suicide notes.

Both Williams’ manager and lawyer immediately downplayed the incident to various media outlets and said, “Jayson is doing fine. He said he was fine,” Williams’ manager Akhtar Farzaie told the New York Daily News. “All of us are here to be by his side as friends.”

Williams’ lawyer, Joe Hayden, told TMZ.com that he “has no knowledge of a suicide attempt or [of Williams] being suicidal.” He also said that Jayson was at St. Vincent’s Hospital for a “medical condition.”

Let’s just hope Jayson gets some help for real. In case you forgot the haps…here is the flashback:

The 41-year-old former NBA All-Star played nine seasons with the Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers before retiring in 2000. He was convicted in 2004 of trying to cover up the shooting death of his hired driver Costas “Gus” Christofi at his mansion in Alexandria Township, N.J., in February 2002.

He was acquitted of aggravated manslaughter, but the jury deadlocked on a reckless manslaughter count. A retrial is pending and he has been free on bail since the shooting.

Jayson’s wife filed divorce papers this year claiming he was abusive, adulterous and had a drug problem. Proceedings continue. I’ll keep you posted.

MAXWELL BACK IN ‘BLACK’ ON JULY 7

Date marks release of his first album in eight years. After seeing his sexy ass rip the stage at Radio City Music Hall last year in a sold out NYC show, I didn’t get a chance to catch up with my friend, but damn I’ve been fiending & wondering when the new joint was coming out and boom…here’s the deal!

Maxwell’s new album “BLACKsummer’snight” finally arrives in stores on
July 7.

Maxwell, who is scheduled to headline the main stage of the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 4, will be taking his new music on the road with a major North American tour in support of BLACKsummers’night.

FORMER CLIPSE MANAGER INDICTED
Cops say he’s leading a $10 million drug ring. Okay first of all, $10 million ain’t nothing to sneeze at; so whatever the deal, I hope they buried some of that dough like Andy Dufresne in “Shawshank Redemption.”

And truly I hope the Clipse secretly got a piece of the pie, cause they are dope & I need more promotion from their team cause their “Lord Willin” (my fav) “Hell Hath No Fury,” & Re-Up” albums are the bomb!

Alright enough of the commercial break, here’s the scoop:

According to the Virginia Pilot, Anthony Gonzalez, former Clipse manager and club owner has been indicted and charged with being behind a 10-million dollar drug this week by a U.S. District Court.

The 34-year-old former club owner is said to have ran his drug ring mostly from his club, Encore Lounge, which was closed earlier this year due to a number of incidents including shootings and drug deals.

The indictment against Gonzalez and the others involved states that they “put themselves out as music producers, rappers, entrepreneurs, club owners, clothing designers and other legitimate occupations in order to conceal the true source of their income.”

Through a number of businesses including his former club, a management agency and a trucking company, Gonzalez was able to launder some of the money he received through the sale of drugs.

In total, Gonzalez is said to have distributed more than a ton of marijuana and more than 100 pounds of cocaine since beginning his drug operation in 2003. Although based out of Virginia, Gonzalez’s drug operation reached as far as South America. An unnamed police officer also is listed as an un-indicted co-conspirator in the 60-page indictment.

Before being charged Gonzalez bragged about his inability to be caught referring to himself as the “Last Of The Mohicans” in a recorded phone call.

Gonzalez was the manager for Hip Hop duo the Clipse up until 2006. The Clipse have yet to comment on the situation and they are currently managed by Steven Victor. Various sources report that as of late Monday night, Gonzalez was still at large.

Damn this has the makings of “The Wire” x 10!
