Okay so the latest craze on FaceBook these days is the “25 random things about me” CHAIN letter.
I detest CHAIN letters.
I find them rude and annoying. If you want to write me a note, or share a little story about yourself with me, write me a note or share a little story dammit, but don’t do it under the brazen assumption that I owe you something in return. Wasn’t reading your note/story proof enough…Continue
One of my visions for Africa is that we as Africans in America begin to partner with Africans to help create lasting institutions that move beyond the shortcomings existing in the United States. By this I mean that institutions in the United States were set up to serve a certain purpose at their inception, and that purpose was not intended to benefit Africans that were slaves here at the time.
When I was a little girl growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, every Sunday my mother would transform me from an ashy-legged, nappy-headed tomboy into a Sunday morning debutante. Even a well-known, black-owned barbeque joint, “This Is It,” said they got over 400 job applicants for their… Continue
Recently I was chatting with a friend about her plans for the weekend. Unfortunately for her pocketbook, her weekend plans included two weddings. This meant that time and money would have to be spent on these joyous occasions. However, with a little effort, I had a plan in mind to save her big bucks and a lot of frustration.
Step 1: The customary thing to do is to find out where the wedding party is listed for… Continue
