Why Is There Gossip In The Salons?

Good Day UBC'ers:
I agree about stopping he gossip.

1) People who gossip feel bigger or very small "in comparison" to the person they are talking about. The key word is that they are "comparing themselves" in some way. So if you are doing something less than savory in their eyes they are apt to feel better or worse(no one wants to be reminded of their mistakes) about the unsavoryiness in their lives (In comparison)

2) It lets your clients know that in this environment (salon, trailer, set, or home office) that "their secrets" are not secured here nor can they trust you...because if you can talk about someone else's business why would'nt you talk about theirs?!

3) This is a big one this can turn your boss, your client or potential client off!! Which means no return business or referrals for you...you can't be trusted!!! This is huge because it can mess with your livelihood.

4) "Jealousy and mediocrity are the admirers of GREATNESS" ~ Unknown

So my suggestion to all involved in gossip is to shut your mouth, have no opinions and simply perform the service that people came to you to perform and if you keep your nose clean you won't be in the middle of some 3rd grade foolishness. Plus you don't want anyone to know how much HATERADE you drink a day with all that nastiness coming out of your mouth.

Haha Haterade..love that. I think folks through the ages have become used to using the local beauty salon and barbershop as a center for community information. It has transformed into the gossip thing. Words hurt folks lets just remember that.

Words do hurt and they also have power. Be careful what you project onto other people and speak over other peoples lives becuase, the seeds you plant today will grow and it may not be in their yard but your own. ;-*

Shared Thoughts!

In God's word it states that there is life or death in the power of the tongue, but it is our Father that puts power behind the words! Just as He watches over His Children, He also watches over words that are spoken against us! He has given us a wonderful text for our mental comfort, a cushioned pillow text to sleep on "No Weapon Formed Against Us Shall Prosper, Every Tongue That Rise Against Us, We Shall Condemn"!

The true purpose of “No weapon formed shall prosper” is to protect the mind of the person being targeted by the enemy, whether it is the enemy gossiping, manipulating, using false insinuations to the mind, or the enemy using an individual while in casual conversation to tear down the spirit of another. The main tool as stated previously in this book is that the enemy uses gossip to destroy the mind of mankind. The enemy loves to try to bully God’s beautiful children, and the main way is through gossip of the mind.

From the beginning of time, the enemy has tried to use gossip of the mind, manipulation and insinuations of the mind to removed God’s children off the path designed by God. This fact is evident when he cunningly convinced one third of the angels to turn against God in Heaven. It was even more evident when he deceived and convinced Eve that disobedience to God would be more profitable to her, then obedience to God.

The powerful phrase, “No weapon formed against you, shall prosper,” has been given as the answer key for mankind to walk in victory physically, spiritually and mentally. This powerful phrase is designed to be the cushioned pillow of peace, to sleep at night. It is the mental medicine of the mind, body and soul.

The enemy has unfortunately tried to convince mankind that there is no power in speaking with authority God’s words for us, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” The tactic he used, was to have mankind feel as though such powerful words stated in the Bible, given by God, Our Creator, were made simply for those in the Bible at that time, and that any passage stated in God’s word, holds no weight of power now. This is another deception of the enemy, to try to handicap God’s children, so that we will feel that there is no hope. This is his way of being a bully to the mind. This is the very reason why God created this verse, so that we would have a weapon to fight back against the enemy, to protect our mind.

How many times in conversation, have you been sharing with someone something great in life you would like to do? Some healing you would like to receive; and somewhere in the conversation, the enemy has used that person to tell you that your desired plans will not work, or your healing may not come, or will not come. Recognize that is the spirit of the enemy using that individual without them even knowing it. God has promised in His word, that He has already conquered the world, and all that we need to be victorious, through His blood. So all things are attainable in Him, wisdom, knowledge, healing, our desires, whatever we seek to allow us to progress forward, has already been conquered through Him.

So words only have power, when our Father puts the power behind it! This is great comfort for all!

I think another question is : Is harmless gossip okay? I think so, in discussing news items that no one can prove. I think there is a thing as harmless fun. However my example of harmful gossip would be my experience as a client. I was new in town and looking for a urban salon. I had an okay hair experience at one salon, but was turned off when the lashes that were applied fell off the next day at an event. Not because a mistake was made, but because of the response is the reason I didnt return. The response wasnt, "Im sorry, here is a refund, it wont happen again" The response was "girl, I didnt have the right glue that day." Huh? I decided to try another salon closer to home. The hair was great, but the whole time was spent in spewing negative gossip especially after they asked what salon I usually go to. The hair stylist aired all the the former salons dirty laundry and them some. I had not told her anything of my experience, not even a grunt or dirty look when they asked me. When they asked me about who did my hair, I stated her name with a positive attitude. Yet, she put the other salon down. It was my first and last visit and the only reason was the ill willed gossip for another business. I still wish them prosperous and healthy lives and businesses.

I would like to commend you on your positive attitude in the midst of all that was being said! God Bless! There are 3 ways to recognize if you are a participant of gossip:

1. If God was standing right next to me, would He approve of this conversation?

2. Is the person I am discussing, present to defend themselves?

3. If the tables were turned, would I like this to be said about me, any of my relatives, closest friends or my business?

If the answers above were each answered"yes" then there have not been any errors of one's character destroyed...

Your positive response in this matter, was the spirit most should possess...You could have diminish the character of the business being discussed, but contributing a positive attitude to a already negative situation, gave others without you realizing something to think about at a later time...

You go their, take your seat, relax and think another person has to do the to the job (hair cut | shaving or anything).
And if you are waiting there for your turn to come, start gossiping with folks around there.

Yes the salon should be a place of relaxation! Beautifying one self and spirit!

In some cases, the listening ear and participator does not usually find anything wrong with the shop gossip, until when they leave the salon and they become the object of talk as well...

Change starts with one, then a thousand, then a million and so on til the point is received!

Shaving is a unproductive work and some people go to saloon to feel fresh also. People feel fresh after shaving and having some masssage that is why most of the people chit chat during that time.
